In the United States, since the autumn of 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag celebrated the colony’s first successful harvest at the Plymouth Plantation, we have taken time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude on the fourth Thursday of November, which is also American Indian Heritage Month. Thus, the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thanksgiving is usually a gathering of family and friends. It may also be a time to give thanks for our schools, and those responsible for educating our students.
Parents give thanks for respectful, caring, and well-mannered children.
Children give thanks for fair, caring, and concerned teachers.
Teachers give thanks for responsible, caring, and professional principal.
Principals give thanks for a trustworthy, caring, and effective superintendent.
The superintendent gives thanks for concerned, caring, and collaborative board of trustees.
The Board of trustees gives thanks for a cooperative, caring, and empowered community.
The community gives thanks for enthusiastic, caring, and involved parents.
I thank you for the opportunity to represent the District 5 communities on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees.
Happy Thanksgiving!
